The Dayah Islamic education institution is a tradition of Islamic teaching and learning that has existed along with the entry and development of Islam into the archipelago in the 8th century AD. The development of Dayah institution since its emergence has experienced ups and downs along with social changes that haveoccurred in Acehnese society. The research intends to describe and provide an interpretation of the changes in Dayah Islamic education institution in the post-independence of Indonesia, which is a momentum for its reborn after colonialism and its development in the post of reformation era, especially since the enactment of Aceh Government Law No.11 in 2006. This research was conducted purposively at Dayah in Aceh. To explore the related data, this study conducted interviews with a number of informants consisting of Abu, Teungku and Aceh Dayah Education Service Practitioners. In order to support other related data, this study also uses observation and conducts documentary studies on dayah. The results of this study indicate that the development of Dayah in the post-independence of Indonesia is strongly influenced by the Dayah Darussalam Labuhan Haji South Aceh network which developed by Abuya Syeikh Muhammad Wali Al-Khalidy. Meanwhile, the development of Dayah in the post of reformation era has started to shift its management from a community-based to a government-based pattern with the involvement of the Aceh government through the Dayah Education Office in the form of supervision, quality control and strengthening of managerial capacity as a manifestation ofthe implementation of Aceh Government Law No. 11 of 2006.en_US
