dc.description.abstract | The problem of environmental pollution is increasingly serious. Household waste is
the highest contributor to environmental pollution. Plastic waste is inorganic waste
that is difficult to decompose on the ground, burning waste is often done to reduce
plastic piles. Burning rubbish also causes air pollution, therefore serious action is
needed in dealing with these problems such as recycling waste with the lastik waste
pyrolysis method. Pyrolysis is a process of thermal decomposition without involving
oxygen, in this way the problem of soil and air pollution by plastic waste will be
reduced and the recovery of more useful materials such as liquid fuels is recovered.
The pyrolysis process in this study used an experimental method with the effect of
variations in the cooling media on the condenser tube to the fuel flowrate. The
cooling media used are plain water and water with temperatures below 10 ℃.
Interval time used is 30 minutes and 60 minutes. The experimental results show the
use of cooling media affects the fuel flowrate. The use of water with a temperature
below 10 ℃ as a cooling medium in the condenser tube flowrate produced more than
using ordinary water as a cooling medium, because the lower the temperature of the
cooling media, the faster the condensation process in the condenser tube.
