dc.description.abstract Reading strategies can be used to make it simpler to grasp a reading text that is read for a more specific comprehension. There are many different reading strategies accessible today, both offline and online. In other words, reading strategy is one of the most critical aspects of understanding a reading so that the reader may attract meaningful conclusions from it. Using strategies, we can learn word learning ability by building connections between brain stimulation and the formation of the verbal vocabulary of students. This study aimed to provide broader insights into reading strategies used by English high achievers of SMP Al-Hidayah Malang. For the research design, this study used a descriptive qualitative method. The researcher took 4 high achievers selected participants from the VIII grade students of SMP Al-Hidayah Malang. The procedure of the research involved two steps; administering a questionnaire and taking students ' scores from the teacher's document. To analyze the data, the researcher used a table and summation from a questionnaire adapted by Mokhtari and Sheorey. The research findings show that high achievers in their grade VIII use reading strategies in various ways. There are three kinds of reading strategies used, namely global reading strategies, problem-solving strategies, and support strategies. Of the three reading strategies that are often used by high achievers, they are reading problem-solving strategies and support reading strategies. Based on the finding of the study, it is addressed to English teachers to train students on how to use the three reading strategies. To increase their reading comprehension, students must be encouraged to use these distinct reading methods in a variety of texts. Future researchers can do an in-depth study on reading strategies and other elements such as student motivation, emotional intelligence, learning style, and others in other studies.
