dc.description.abstractThis research concerns on the study of analyzing teachers’ perception toward the use of song as authentic material in teaching listening, and to identify what factors that affect teachers’ on using song to teach listening. This research is a qualitative case study conducted in SMAN 2 Malang. The data was taken from two English teachers who teach listening for the eleventh-grade student. Data of the research were collected through interview and were analyzed by using interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman. The finding of this research revealed that teachers believe that authentic materials have a positive influence on students' learning, particularly in listening lessons, because they contain real material produced by native speakers. Factors influencing teachers' use of song in teaching listening included teaching with songs is more effective; teachers prefer songs because the duration is shorter. They believe that using song as authentic material in teaching listening can improve students' pronunciation and vocabulary mastery. This research is expected to be useful for students and provide students with information about the importance of song as authentic material in listening skills. The result of this study can be used by teachers to investigate their attitudes toward using songs to teach listening. This research provides a useful resource for further researchers to conduct a study about teacher’s perception on the use of song as authentic materials in teaching listening.
