Teaching strategies are certainly a part of teaching English, and there are ways that teachers can help them teach more effectively. Instructional strategies are plans that evaluate systems related to teacher roles, student roles, selection of methods and techniques, and selection of instructional materials in order to achieve and successfully achieve learning objectives through the teacher's educational and teaching practices. Students must master oral, reading, and writing four skills to learn English well. Writing is a useful skill that all students should be familiar with. Writing skills need to be developed with the right strategy and lots of practice. Mind mapping is one of the strategies that can be used to teach writing This study aims to answer the research question, namely: How are students' perceptions of teachers' mind-mapping in writing recount texts? Researchers use surveys as a method of conducting research. The survey data is collected through questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire contains twenty statements, adapted from Ary, D., Jacobs, L. C., Razayieh, A. & Sorensen, C. (2002). The standard of this agreement are Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Agree and Strongly Agree. There is one open question in the questionnaire. The interview guide consists of five questions. According to the survey results, it was found that most of the students had a positive attitude towards the teaching method of mind mapping. Overall, it can be said that the respondents became more interested students through mind mapping. Open-ended questions suggest that respondents have great ideas, some of which are similar. According to the interview, it is recommended to use more mind maps to teach students to write paraphrases. For students who have had this experience, the results have been positive. The students' suggestions for writing retelling texts using mind maps in class were very helpful. They made suggestions for teachers, events related to the learning process, and the use of mind maps. They believe mind mapping should be used in all disciplines, not just writing. Mind maps are a great research topic for anyone who wants to do similar research in the future.
