dc.description.abstract | Instilling independence in children is an important point in the process of
early childhood growth and development. It is the duties of adults, especially
parents, teachers and people directly involved in childcare. So there must be
cooperation between parents and teachers, what has been implemented in schools
must have consequences or reciprocity in the home environment.
This study aims to determine the role of parenting style on the independence
of group B children in Raudhatul Athfhal AT-TIBYAN Malang 2019-2020
academic year. The questions to be answered in this study are: how is the role of
parenting style for the independence of group B children in Raudhatul Athfal AT
TIBYAN Malang.
This research is a type of qualitative research. The data sources in this study
were obtained from informants, namely parents and teachers of group B children
Raudhatul Athfal AT TIBYAN Malang, and the subjects in this study were children
of group B in Raudhatul Athfal.
AT TIBYAN Malang. data collection is done by observation, interviews, and
documentation. Data analysis in this study uses a qualitative descriptive method,
namely presenting data in writing and explaining what it is in accordance with the
data obtained from the research results, checking the validity of the data in this
study, using technical triangulation and source triangulation.
The results of this study indicate that the parenting styles applied by the
parents of group B children in Raudhatul Athfal AT TIBYAN Malang are
democratic parenting styles and authoritarian parenting. Democratic parenting is
shown by the results of interviews that parents give freedom to children, but people
parents continue to supervise and control the child. The authoritarian parenting
pattern is shown by the results of the interview that parents demand that the child
obey all the rules that have been made, while the independence of the child group
B Raudhatul Athfal AT TIBYAN Malang has developed well. This is proven by
the results of research that the child is able to do their own needs. that is, the child
is able to shower, wear clothes, wear shoes, eat, and have the toilet by themselves
without having to wait. Not only that, children are also able to manage their own
