An Analysis of Student Anxiety in Learning English at Junior High School Baitul Makmur Malang

Abstract
English is now a global language, and learning has become an assential part of life, especially for students in school. Student’s feelings in the classroom matter because they have an impact on their learning and become crusial of a student’s capacity to knowledge and understand in learning English. A student’s attempts to study may be obstructed by negative emotions like anxiety. The problem of what are the levels of anxiety experienced by the students in learning English and what factors do students believe contribute to their anxiety in learning English is raised in this thesis, which examines student anxiety in learning English from the third Grade students at the Junior High School of Baitul Makmur Malang. The participant for this reserach as much as 21 student in total. Questionnaire and interviews, are used in this qualitative study to obtain data and the result described in detail statement, specifically through the use of a written statement. The study’s goals were to discovered students’ levels of anxiety and find the factor that trigger the students anxiety at Junior High School of Baitul Makmur Malang. The reseracher found out that, from 21 participant, 12 students had mild levels of anxiety, and the rest, which is 9 students had moderate levels of anxiety. The study’s findings suggest that teachers should be mindful of students who are experiencing foreign language anxiety in the classroom. Students must understand that it’s normal and typical to make mistakes when learning a new language. Based on the findings, the researcher found 6 factor that cause the anxiety of third grade middle school student at Baitul makmur. Every student is impacted by anxiety to varying level when they learn English. All students must participate to lower the tension in the classroom. To make the classroom a nice place, students must cooperate. Because anxiety is now a big factor in effect students learn their new language, and teacher must be aware of the students anxiety in class when learning foreign language.
